23-May-2008

BMT Transport Solutions, together with its Latvian partner NK Konsultāciju birojs, has won the public tender of the Freeport of Riga Authority for the elaboration of the strategic long-term planning document (Development Program of Freeport of Riga 2010 -2018) and the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEA).

The Freeport of Riga Development Program is a framework document defining the Freeport of Riga overall strategy and development. It identifies main activities aimed at achieving the strategic objectives of the Port. The Development Program is elaborated in line with development principles of the EU and the Latvian national transport policy. As part of the consultation, BMT will conduct a market analysis which will assess the macroeconomic situation and its impact on port activities. Other parts will be concerned with cargo flow / financial flow forecasts and the definition of development scenarios. Additional tasks are the analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), the generation of the port development strategy and the related action plan, which will include a financial evaluation of proposed actions and scenarios. The project will help the client strategically manage his port in a competitive and sustainable way to be prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.

The Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEA) includes the preparation of the Environmental Report, the organisation of public hearings and consultations with stakeholders. The SEA will be provided by BMT Cordah as subcontractor of BMT Transport Solutions.
